Every path has its story
Hiking with dromolatis.gr is not just walking. All the routes, we have chosen, have their own story, from the ancient years till the WW2 and the resistance against the Nazis.
Heading to Sougia via the E4 path, we pass the remains of Lissos and the Temple of Asklipios. In times of prosperity, Lissos had more than 15.000 population and hundreds of people were visiting the Temple for its miraculous water.
On the way to Omalos, we can see the remains of the Ahlada Mitato, which was bombarded by the Nazis in 1943 and the St Catherine’s church, the one partisans built, because they were saved when the occupation troops were chasing them.
