Dromolatis

The poet, Vitsentzos Kornaros, used the word "dromolatis" from the old Cretian dialect of Erotokritos in the early 17th century, to describe "the hikers." The dialect is rarely spoken on Crete today, but it still captures the feeling of modern-day trekkers on this beautiful island. The birth of today’s Dromolatis is due to my three major passions: Crete, nature and trekking.

My Dromolatis began as an idea many years ago and step by step the dream became true. I started trekking when I was nine years old and I've never stopped studying with mountaineering schools, exploring, and celebrating Crete's unique beauty. The goal of Dromolatis is to quietly reveal the beauty of Crete’s landscape and people to new trekkers.

We will traverse Crete's paths and beaches, have unforgettable experiences with the locals, learning a little of Crete's history, culture and food, along the way.
